Inspiration: Bold Holiday Makeup

If you enjoyed my tutorial for a more natural holiday look, then check out this bolder interpretation! This is a makeup look you will probably see quite often for the Holidays…a bold red lip with a warm golden shimmery smokey eye.

I start by prepping the skin with a moisturizer and I added a bit of MAC Strobe Cream into my moisturizer to add a little glow to the skin. For foundation, you can use whatever you have. I also used a concealer that is a few shades lighter than my skin tone and placed that underneath my eyes. Depending on if you’re going to a party or dinner, you want to make sure your foundation is long wearing.

Then I start by prepping my eyes with a primer. After that I like to add a transition color, this color can be any neutral light matte eye shadow that you have, I used a cork eye shadow by MAC. Once the transition color is blended, I place a dark brown eye shadow in the outer corner of the eye (this shadow can be satin or matte finish). With a flat synthetic brush (for more coverage) place a gold shimmer eye shadow all over the lid and continue to blend. If you wanted to add more depth, you can place a darker eye shadow on the outer part of the eye and a bronze eye shadow right on the lid towards the outer part of the eye (where the gold and dark brown eye shadows meet). Add a light color with a frost finish (or use your highlighter) and place that in the inner corner of the eye. Then line the eye with a black liquid liner and you can wing out or keep it close to the lash line. Add mascara with extreme volume or false lashes for drama.

At this point you can contour your face and add bronzer with a light amount of blush (nothing too pink). Don’t forget to highlight!

For brows, you can fill them in or brush them out with a clear brow gel to set the brows in place.

Add your favorite red lipstick with a red liner to match or a red lip stain for longevity. Set with a light amount of powder and setting spray.

XoXo,
