Did Somebody Say Pool Party?!

Hey MYD Beauties!

I don’t know about you, but I am SO ready for pool parties, the beach, & laying out getting that nice summer tan!

First off, I want to start by saying obviously you don’t have to wear makeup to the pool or beach. If you’re comfortable not wearing any that’s awesome! Let your skin breathe! However, I personally just feel a little more comfortable with a little something on. Obviously you don’t need a full face of makeup at the pool, so here is my favorite go to makeup look for any pool party or beach trip with friends! Even if you’re not wearing makeup sunscreen is super important!! This is a must for anybody that’s going out in the sun. It should be apart of you’re morning skincare routine, but especially if you’re planning on being in the sun all day!

My go to is a BB cream or tinted moisturizer.  This is a great way to hydrate your skin and add a small amount of coverage. It shouldn’t be a thick, cakey layer of foundation. Just a very light weight, sheer coverage, hydrating moisturizer! I will also add a small amount of bronzer on my cheeks and the frame of my face. Also, a little bit of highlight on the tops of my cheekbones! For both the bronzer and highlighter I prefer a cream product in the summer just because it will last a lot longer! I keep the eyes very simple… just a coat of waterproof mascara!

This look literally takes me five minutes and is great for the summer! It’s the perfect amount of makeup for the “no makeup” makeup look.

XOXO, Caitlynn

Day to Night – St. Patricks Day Edition!

Happy St. Patricks Day MYD loves!

I’m so happy to share another day to night makeup look with you guys! These are some of my favorite looks to create because I don’t know about you, but I don’t always have an extra hour to spend on my makeup. This is a quick and easy way to transform your day makeup into an emerald green smokey eye!

So this is a very simple look for a day time look. I did my makeup exactly like I do on a day to day basis. All I did was add a green shadow to my lower lash line! I did add a very tiny amount to my outer corner as well. I have pretty oily skin and some texture, so I’ll list the products that are included in my every day makeup routine! To start off I use the Porefessional primer by Benefit. Since my skin is oily I have big pores and this primer does an amazing job at really making my skin look a lot smoother. I use Kat Van D foundation, Tarte Shape Tape concealer, Laura Mercier translucent setting powder, & the Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Palette to contour my face. To finish off my face I go in with a little bit of Hoola bronzer from Benefit, blush from Urban Decay (I usually mix a few colors together), and my go to highlight is Champagne Pop by Becca!

Moving on to the eyes… on a typical day I tend to just put a nice warm brown shade in my entire crease and highlight my inner corner. That’s exactly what I did to create this look too! But, I added a slightly darker brown shade to my outer corner with a touch of a dark green shadow! To finish off the eye I smudged a lighter green shadow on my lower lash line. Oh and you can’t forget about brows! I used the same shade I use as my inner corner highlight for my brow bone. As always I used the Anastasia Brow Wiz to fill in my brows.

Now it’s time to smoke it out & go out to celebrate St. Patricks Day!

To transform this look into a night time look only takes a few steps! I used the same dark brown shadow in the outer crease to really smoke it out. I also brought that same shade down to connect with the light green shadow that is on my lower lash line. I then went into my Makeup Forever Artist Shadow Palette and used the emerald green glitter shadow in the shade ME-302. I applied this all over the lid. After applying this I realized I needed a little more, so I went into my Sonia Kashuk Gems and Jewels Palette and added that emerald green shadow on top. This definitely made a huge difference. To finish up I added a touch of a gold glitter shadow to my inner corner. There’s a gold glitter in both of the palettes that work great!

I added a very thin line of gel eyeliner on my lash line and also tight lined. I used Pur cosmetics Fully Charged mascara to bring it all together! A pair of false lashes would look great with this look too. I kept a nude lip for both the day and night look just because I really wanted to focus to be on the emerald green eye!

I hope you enjoyed this day to night St. Patricks Day makeup look!

Until next time,

XOXO, Caitlynn

Glowy Skin is Always In!

Hey loves!

One of my favorite trends for this season is glowy, bronzed, healthy looking skin! Honestly, I think this is always a great look, but a matte face was definitely to go to look for many of you last year. This is especially a great look going into the spring and summer seasons.

Now, if you tend to have oily skin you can still achieve this look!! Trust me I personally have oily skin, so I never thought I’d like a liminous glow to my skin, but I love this look! All I had to do was play around with different products to figure out the products that worked and didn’t work with my skin.

To start off I still used my pore profecting primer just to smooth out my skin. Instead of going in with a foundation with a matte finish I chose a more luminous foundation. The key part to this look is bronzer and highlight! Instead of contouring like normal I just used a bronzer to bronze up the outside of my face. I then put a pretty good amount of highlight in the tops of my cheekbones, brow bone, bridge of my nose & Cupid’s bow.

To stick with the sun kissed glow look I just used the burnt orange shadow from the Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renessance palette in my entire crease and lid. I used the same highlight for my inner corner and that’s all!! Super easy to achieve. I thought the look was missing something, so I did add a winged liner and a pair of false lashes. I felt like since the makeup look was so simple the liner and false lashes really pulled the whole look together!!

To finish it off I used a nude liquid lipstick and a gloss on top for my lips!

I hope you enjoy this look & have some inspiration to try it out!! Make sure you tag us in any of the looks you try to recreate. We love to see our MYD Beauties trying out the looks we create!

Glow, Gloss, & Glitter: Spring 2017 Trends

Hey MYD Beauties!

I don’t know about you, but I still can’t believe we’re already at the end of February of 2017!! New year, new trends! With spring right around the corner I wanted to let you in on a few of the 2017 spring makeup trends!

glowy-skin

So last year there was a lot of hype about being very matte, but this years it’s the exact opposite! Glowing, beautiful, healthy looking skin is definitely the go to look this spring! Now, if you tend to be on the more oily side you might be thinking this isn’t going to be your go to look. I thought the same thing because I’m super oily and have always tried to go for the matte look, but after playing around with some new makeup I’m loving a super glowy look!

The next trend is by far one of my favorites! A nice glossy lip! Don’t get me wrong I love a bold matte lip, but I’m so excited that the super glossy lip is back this spring. Throwing on a gloss as your running out the door is a great way to make yourself look a little more put together. It looks great with a dewy, glowing face too!

The last trend I have for you today is glitter. If you’re not a huge glitter person it’s okay! There are a few different ways to incorporate a tiny amount of glitter in your every day makeup look without going overboard. Adding a glitter or shimmer eyeshadow in the inner corner of your eye is a great way to make your eyes look more open and awake! Also under your brow on your brow bone!  Last, but certainly least your highlight! I absolutely love a good highlight, and it will help you achieve that nice glowy, healthy skin look as well!

I hope this has helped prepare you for the trends this season! If there’s any other trend that you’re loving for this spring please let us know!

Until next time,

XOXO, Caitlynn

Product Review: Anastasia Brow Wiz

Hello MYD Beauties!

anastasia-beverly-hills-brow-wiz

I’m always getting questions about brows! Going into the beginning of 2016 a full thicker brow was definitely the go to look. But, just like every trend , it took a turn later in the year. Now, don’t get me wrong a full thicker brow is gorgeous on a lot of people, but a more natural brow is what seems to be in trend starting off 2017.

No matter whether you like a full, thick brow or a more natural look this is the PERFECT item to fill in your brows. It’s the Brow Wiz by Anastasia of Beverly Hills.

I’ve been using this product on myself for about three years now and I have to say I haven’t been able to find anything I personally like better. I’ve tried so many great products, but nothing has seemed to quite measure up to the Brow Wiz. The next best thing I found was also by Anastasia and is also a fairly new product.  It’s called the Brow Definer. Now this is another great product, but as soon as I used it up I went straight back to the Brow Wiz and fell in love with it all over again!!

It’s a super easy product to use with a little practice. I prefer the Brow Wiz because the actual end is smaller than the Brow Definer allowing you to be more precise an make it look more natural. It has a great spooly on the opposite end to help brush through your brow to blend the product out.

So, if you’re in the market for a new brow product, or know somebody that loves brows this will be a great go-to item! I’m sure you’ll love it just as much as I do!

Don’t forget we have our brow class next Wednesday 2/22/16 where will teach you everything you need to know about how to achieve the perfect brow for your face shape! You can find more information HERE.

I hope to meet all of you at our upcoming brow class!!

XoXo, Caitlynn

Valentines Day to Night Look!

Hi again MYD beauties!!

With Valentine’s Day falling on a Tuesday this year many of you may be wondering how you’re going to have time to get ready in between work & any evening plans you may have! It may be dinner with your significant other or just girls night out, but you still want to look your best! I’ve put together this very easy day to night Valentine’s Day inspired look that anybody can achieve!

You may not be used to wearing a lot of makeup, much less pink eyeshadow and a pink lip! But I’m encouraging all of you to step out of your comfort zone and have a little fun with your makeup this Valentine’s Day!

So, if you want to learn to achieve this look just keep on reading!

For the most part I did my face makeup how I normally wear it on a day to day basis. All I did different was use a cool toned pink blush! I used the color Cherry by Urban Decay, but any soft bubble gum pink will look great with this look! Now, for my eyes I used the Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Palette to create both of these looks! I totally recommend looking into getting this palette. It has a great variety of matte and shimmer shades and would be great for spring and fall looks!

So, I started off by running the color Warm Taupe in my entire crease to have a good transition shade. I then buffed Buon Fresco on top of Warm Taupe, so again in my entire crease! After I used a small amount of Love Letter in my outer corner to give a little demention. To finish up I packed the shade Vermeer on to my entire lid and inner corner. A coat of mascara will tie the eye look together.

When I was trying to decide what lip color I wanted to use I was leaning towards a nude (of course). But, it’s Valentine’s Day! The perfect chance to break out your Barbie pink lip! So I’m wearing The shade Dream House a melted metal liquid lipstick by Too Faced.

Now, work is over and it’s time to rush to a dinner, party, or any event you may have planned! This may look like a totally different look, but I promise it literally three steps to get you to this look! So, starting off from the previous look all you have to do is take the shade Cyprus Umber from the same eyeshadow palette. You want to really focus this on the outer corner and buff it into the crease until about mid way. Then you can take any eyeliner that you like and make it a little more bold. You can add a wing if you want, it’s totally up to you! To finish this look I removed the pink liquid lipstick and put on another liquid lipstick. I think a red lip will be perfect for any evening event you are going to.

I hope you enjoy these two looks and I would love to see if you try them out!! So just make sure you send us pictures or tag us with #mydbeauty on social media if you try these looks out!

Happy Valentine’s Day!

XOXO, Caitlynn
