I had so much fun at this show because we come to the Carolina Inn several times a year for weddings, and it was great to see the place totally decked out. Several of our artists & stylists were able to come to the event to meet all of the brides that came out to the show.

We even got to hang out with Heidi Dawson, the director of catering for the Carolina Inn and a good friend of the Makeup for Your Day team. One of our resident stylists, Megan is getting married this year and was able to attend the show with her fiance, Anthony!

One of my favorite parts of bridal shows is the food! I don’t know that I have seen so many different food vendors in one place before! We had cake, pie, chicken and waffles on a stick, and there was even a s’mores bar. Yes.. a buffet where you could make your own s’mores. YUM! Jen and Susanne had to grab a cheerwine and donuts!

Tasty treats were available all over The Carolina Inn!

I will documenting all of the bridal shows Megan and I went to in the month of February on the blog over the next few days! Please tune in tomorrow for more!

See you at the next show!

MYD Bride Jessica’s Beautiful Wedding Day Look

It was such a pleasure to be a part of Jason and Jessica’s special day! Makeup up For Your Day had three talented members of our team there to help the ladies get ready. Jennifer B was there to apply beautiful, flawless airbrush makeup and Kathy and Kerri were there to do gorgeous hairstyles for all of the ladies.

Beautiful bride Jessica and eight of the bridal party and mothers got ready at The Washington Duke Inn. From there, Tia from Erin McLean Events, coordinated the travel to The Duke Chapel for an amazing ceremony – and then they were on to The Fearrington for an incredible reception.

Weddings are the best day of a bride and groom’s life, and they are also long! Even though the day is long, the bride and groom still wish it would last forever. The same goes for your hair and makeup! You want your hair and makeup to last through the tears, the toasts, the dancing and everything else. This is why we absolutely love airbrush makeup and always suggest it to our brides.

Airbrush makeup will not fade, transfer or smudge throughout the day. It is waterproof, sweatproof and looks completely natural. Jessica looked beautiful from the start of the day until the end of the day. She was such a gorgeous bride! Thank you to Jessica and Jason for letting us be a part of your special day!

Have you ever tried, or thought of trying airbrush makeup? Let us know in the comments box below! To see more brides with beautiful airbrush makeup, check out our Facebook page!

The Benefits of Airbrush Makeup

We have done a few posts on airbrush makeup and MYD training with airbrush makeup. Lately we’ve been getting quite a few questions about what products we use at  MYD because brides are concerned about finding that balance between not enough product (and having it wear off) and having it look cakey.

That’s why we love airbrush makeup so much! It is so lightweight and natural looking. It can cover up any discoloration, it will even out skin tone and it will last all day! It looks so amazing in photos, and that is why we highly recommend airbrush makeup to our brides.

Airbrush makeup works on all skin types, textures and can be used on any skin color. Check out the photos below {courtesy of WeddingWire} to see these beautiful ladies before and after airbrush makeup.

MYD Beautifies the Tre Bella Styled Shoot

We are so excited to share these beautiful photos {courtesy of Robin Lin Photography} that Tre Bella used as their advertisements in Weddings Unveiled Magazine and Southern Bride and Groom Magazine. Our talented artist and stylist Jen B did airbrush makeup on both of the models and gave them both beautiful bridal hairstyles.

This is such a stunning bridal look. The model features clean, matte skin with subtle pink cheeks and natural lips. Jen B did such an amazing job with her hair as well, this is such a beautiful bridal hairstyle. If you like what you see, don’t forget to PIN it!

Oscar Party Prep: Looks we Love!

To amp up for the Oscars this Sunday, we decided to dissect some looks from past years. This made us even more excited to see the red carpet looks this year!
Zoe Saldana looked incredible and was glowing. She had a similar hairstyle to Rachel McAdams (see below) and the same youthful look, but the colors were different on her darker skin tone. She has the most beautiful and vibrant coral blush on her cheeks with a highlight. Her eyes are done up with matte black powder.

Canadian cutie Rachel McAdams always has a fresh, girl-next-door look about her. She is so youthful which is why we love this look for her. It doesn’t make her look too young or too old, it is perfect and laid back. Pink cheeks, pink lips with her hair teased at the crown and pulled back into a bun. We love it!

Oh Sandra – look at those lips! We were surprised when we saw Sandra Bullock with matte hot pink lips on the red carpet because she isn’t particularly known as a risk-taker. She usually looks good, but isn’t memorable. We love her neat, classic hair mixed with a younger, more fun lip and cheek color.

Halle Berry is so beautiful she hardly needs any makeup. Her short, boyish hairstyle was worn messy and draws attention to her beautiful facial features. She wore a light gloss, and apricot blush and her eyes were defined with black liner and brown shadow, but not overdone.
Va-va-voom! Jennifer Hudson looks great here. Her skin is absolutely flawless with a subtle coral blush that matches her dress color, a cranberry lipgloss and beautiful eyes! Her eyes are completely matte and are a mix of beige (the inner corner) and brown on the brow bone. Then there is beautiful matte black liner that goes from the inner to outer corner of her eye.

Mila Kunis had such a pretty dress at the Oscars that people didn’t pay enough attention to her gorgeous hair and makeup. Her finger waves are pinned back into a low, side hairstyle. Her cheeks and lips don a mauve color which complements her lilac-colored dress. Her eyes are fully lined with black liner with brown-gold shadow to create a soft smokey eye.

Jessica Chastain looked radiant at the 2012 Oscars. We absolutely love her hair color, but we also love how it was styled. Her half-up, half-down style was pinned at the back with loose waves cascading down her back. The golden locks looked great with the gold in her dress. Her eyes and lips were a matte sandy pink color which looks great with her hair color and on her lighter skin tone. Her eyes were lined on the top lid with black liner and a slight cat eye.

A young Emma Stone is already someone to watch on the carpet, on the big screen and in Hollywood. We love how she doesn’t shy away from color or taking risks. Her red hair, red dress and pink eyeshadow? Emma Stone you rock! The black liner gives her eyes some definition and her lips are a subtle pink shade that matches her dress.

Berenice Bejo was one to watch on the red carpet last year as many people had never heard of her before the motion picture The Artist swept the cinema scene and starting picking up a multitude of awards. Berenice showed up at the Oscars looking great. We love how the braid comes down the side of her head into a low bun, it is a beautiful trendy hairstyle.

Everyone was anticipating Rooney Mara’s red carpet look at the Oscars. After The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo came out people were intrigued by this beautiful, androgynous girl and people were eager to see her more feminine side. She looked so beautiful with her striking dark hair, straight bangs and slicked back hair into a ballerina bun. Her skin was fresh and completely matte with peachy pink blush. Her lips were a bold, matte red and her brows looked incredible!

Milla Jovivich looked good, but we aren’t loving her blush. On the right you can see the color in a perfect pink circle. That is how clowns apply makeup! When applying color you need to be sure to blend, blend, blend! The color should be seamless. We do really love Mila’s beautiful hairstyle and red lips, she just need a kabuki brush to help blend her blush in more!
Who are you most excited to see this year? What are your trend predictions – best and worst dressed, who will win? We would love to know!

Asheville, North Carolina Wedding Makeup

Justin and Bernie had a beautiful fall wedding in the mountains of North Carolina outside Asheville at Castle Ladyhawke. The scenery and the ceremony were beautiful. All of the leaves were changing to gorgeous browns and golds, but a fall wedding doesn’t mean you have to use fall colors for your makeup.

The talented Jennifer B headed to Asheville and Tuckasegee as the artist and stylist on scene for Bernie and her bridal party. She started the day with the Kett airbrush for flawless skin and tattoo coverage. If you haven’t had a chance to see what the Kett airbrush can accomplish for coverup and flawless skin, check out our post here.

Bernie was such a fun bride to work with. She requested hot pink eyeshadow for her wedding day. We used purple for depth in the crease with the hot pink lid, and then finished off with some loose pink pigment from Inglot.

For her hair, Bernie had a sequin flower hair accessory that looked beautiful. Along with the makeup and the stunning dress, all of the elements came together to give her that “Wow”look. {Photos courtesy Kevin Milz Photography}

Congratulations to Bernie and Justin, thank you for letting us be a part of your wedding day! To see photos of other brides we have worked with, check out our Facebook page. To be in the loop about where we are and what we are doing, follow us on Twitter!
