Inspiration: Brittanys Bridal Portraits at The Carolina Inn

Disney Princess status can be found here in Brittany’s Bridal Portraits shot at The Carolina Inn by Fancy This Photography. WOW! Brittany looked radiant with her long naturally red hair that was loosely placed in a half up half down, voluminous style. Her soft makeup complimented her gorgeous skin so well. Those baby blues just shine with a soft gold smokey eye and defined lashes. Her wedding gown by Lazaro is the perfect choice for the classic style of the Carolina Inn. Everything about this shoot says Romantic Storybook Dream!

Inspiration: 10 Must Have Summer Braids

Braids have been so trendy lately and this summer is no exception. Its such an effortless style that adds a little bohemian flair to an otherwise “normal” hairstyle. On the blog today we have some of my favorite summer braid looks for inspiration. These styles all pair perfectly with some balyaged highlights Wether you are heading to the beach, meeting someone for lunch or heading to a wedding, these braids are sure to keep you looking cool.

  1. Voluminous Side Fishtail
braidsinspo2

This is a go to beach day look. Tease hair at the crown and throw a fishtail braid into a side pony.

2. Half Up Half Down Loose Two Strand Braid

braidsinspo3

This is perfect for second day waves. Throw some twists and then braid the ends to create an effortless braided half up half down look

3. Dutch Braid Headband

braidsinspo6

Create a faux headband with a quick dutch braid to give yourself a boho accessory

4. Loose Knot Braid with Face Framing Pieces

braidsinspo7

People will stop you on the streets to ask how you did you hair! This is a combination of a rope/twist braid that is knotted together with a fishtail braid. Paired with perfect romantic waves.

5. Messy Braided Faux-Hawk

braidsinspo9

This edgy look is perfect for going downtown and works great with a deeper lip. No need for perfection here as this style looks better when its rough around the edges

6. Mermaid Braid

braidsinspo8

Fan out the end of your fishtail with a good texture spray and make your hair have a literal fish tail. Perfect for when your hair has a little extra salt water in it.

7. Quick On-The-Go Braided Bun

braidsinspo4

For a quick on-the-go look braid your hair into a ponytail and then pin it into a bun!

8. Messy Top-Knot with Hidden Braid

braidsinspo5

Hidden braids are the best summer go to look! Throw your hair into a quick top knot and then add a braid or two into the hair that is down for a little bohemian flair

9. Dutch-Fishtail Side Braid

braidsinspo1

Mix up your braid pattern by starting with a three strand braid and then convert it to a two strand braid. The different texture will create interest in your hair style.

10. Double French Braid

braidsinspo

A classic that you most likely wore when you were younger is coming back in a big way! Sleep on this style and enjoy the waves the next day.

Honoring Lost Loved Ones at Your Wedding

In observance of Memorial Day, Makeup for Your Day would like to not only extend our condolences for those loved ones that you’ve lost but also share some beautiful ideas that we’ve seen brides and families implement at their weddings to honor a deceased family member and/or serviceman or servicewoman.

Something Borrowed..

A great way to show your support is to wear a small memento of your lost loved one. This can be as small as your grandmother’s wedding earrings to something larger like your grandfather’s tie. These small additions are great conversation pieces to get people speaking about them and to show you care.

In writing…

A small notation in a program or their name on a seat marker are all great ways to show, in writing, that you are including those who have passed. Carrying a small handwritten note within your bouquet or in your dress is another great way to honor them with the power of the written word.

A little light…

A candle is a great way to symbolize the passed individual. This candle can remain lit through your wedding or you can dedicate a small portion of the ceremony to lighting the candle followed by a moment of silence.

Here at Makeup for Your Day we would love to thank all the brave men and women for their sacrifices to this country. Please tag a member of the military who you would like to honor.

St. Patrick’s Day Inspiration!

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

We’ve got two looks to inspire you today whether you are going downtown or just having some green cupcakes at work. These two looks should help to keep you from getting pinched!

Our talented artist, Valentina face charted this look and it is perfect for work or a daytime event. Who doesn’t love a good green eyeliner?

Face Chart by Valentina

I love how the different green hues transition into each other! This look is actually easier to achieve than you might think. To create the ombre wing effect I simply used an angled brush that I sprayed with a spritz of water to intensify the green pigment. I laid the light color down first and then slightly overlapped with the darker green to create a transition effect. I then added an even darker color green just on the wing to create  a small amount of depth. Top it off with your favorite mascara and you are ready to go!

The next look Valentina created is a sultry green and gold look. This would look amazing for an evening out!

IMG_20160317_075730_01

This look has a lot of layers. I first started with a “transition shade” that was slightly darker than my skintone throughout the crease. I then packed in some of the darker pigment do the outer corner of my lid. I then patted on the matte green shade on my lid, then popped some gold shimmer pigment on top! I finished the look with a bold black liner. For a more intense look you could pop some of the green pigment on your lower lash line as well. Top this with your favorite set of falsies and enjoy some green beverages!
